Agriculture Act 1970 (C. 40)
To make provision for small holdings; capital grants to farms; central for fertilisers and feeding stuffs and flood warning systems.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

The Ministerial functions which are exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales are:

Part II: Capital and other grants.

  • section 29: Approval for grants to establish an agricultural business.

Part III Smallholdings

  • section 39: Power to define requirement for a smallholding under this Act.
  • sections 40-43: Approval of schemes submitted by a local authority for the reorganisation of smallholdings.
  • sections 50-52: Payment of grants for reorganisation of smallholdings.
  • section 56: Default powers in relation to local authorities.
  • section 59: Submission of annual reports by local authorities to Minister.

Part IV: Fertilisers and feeding stuffs

  • section 67: Default powers of Minister if local authority fails to enforce provisions of the Act.
  • section 68: Power to prescribe statutory statement to be given by person selling fertilisers of feeding stuffs.
