Agriculture Act 1986 (C. 49)
To make further provision for agriculture and agricultural and other food products, horticulture and the countryside.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

The Ministerial functions which are exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales are:
  • section 1: Provision for services or goods free or by charge to any person relating to the production and marketing of agricultural produce and food; conservation of the countryside or any other agricultural activity.
  • section 17: Duty to balance the conservation and enhancement of the countryside with the promotion of an efficient agricultural industry in carrying out all agricultural functions.
  • section 18: Power to designate areas as an environmentally sensitive area and to enter into agreements to conserve the area.
