Development of Rural Wales Act 1976 (C. 75)

To confer power on the Secretary of State to give financial assistance to bodies concerned with social development of Wales.

The only Ministerial function under this Act exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales is : section 26. section 26: Financial assistance to bodies contributing to the social development of Wales. The Secretary of State may, with the approval of the Treasury give financial assistance to any person other than a Board) engaged in an activity in Wales which the Secretary of State considers will contribute to the social development of Wales or any part of Wales. The Secretary of State shall not give financial assistance to a person who carries on or intends to carry on industrial undertakings. Any sum repaid to the Secretary of State in pursuance of this section shall be paid by him into the Consolidated Fund.
