Local Government (Contracts) Act 1997 (C. 65) OPSI - Local Government (Contracts) Act 1997 (C. 65)
To make provision about the powers of local authorities to enter into contracts.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

The following Ministerial functions under this Act are exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales namely:
  • section 3: Power to prescribe manner of dealing and matters to be dealt with in certification requirements of local authority contracts.
  • section 4: Power to amend section 4 relating to contracts coming within the Act.
The following Ministerial functions under this Act are exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers, the First Minister or the Counsel General (as the case may be) in relation to Wales namely:
  • section 3(3): Duty to issue a certificate of compliance.
  • section 9: If permitted to do so by a Minister of Crown under section 69 of the Deregulation and Contracting Out Act 1994 , Power to authorise another person to exercise one of their functions for a period in excess of ten years, under specified conditions.
The following Ministerial functions under this Act are exercisable solely by the Clerk to the Assembly in relation to Wales namely:
  • section 3(3): Duty to issue a certificate of compliance for a certificate issued by the Assembly Commission.
