Education (Fees and Awards) Act 1983 (C. 40)
To make provision with respect to fees charged by universities and other institutions to students not having the requisite connection with the United Kingdom.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

The Ministerial function contained in this Act which is exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales is:
  • section 1: Power to make regulations requiring or authorising the charging of fees at universities and further education establishments, which are higher in the case of students not having such connection with the United Kingdom or any part of it as may be specified in the regulations than in the case of students having such a connection.
  • section 2: Power to make regulations authorising the adoption of rules of eligibility confining discretionary awards given by local authorities and other bodies towards university and other institutions' fees to such persons having such connections with the United Kingdom or any part of it, as may be specified in the Regulations.
