Further Education Act 1985 (C. 47)
To empower local authorities to supply goads and services through further and higher education establishments maintained by local authorities.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

All the Ministerial functions under this Act are exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales namely:
  • section 2(5): Power to prescribe a person as a public body for the purposes of receiving goods or services from a further or higher educational establishment at less than open market value.
  • section 3: Power to prescribe the rate of interest, with Treasury consent, that loans shall carry which are given under section 2 to an institution by a local authority.
