Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978 (C. 3)

To control dumping and provide for the removal of abandoned vehicles and other refuse.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

All the Ministerial functions under this Act are exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales namely:
  • section 2A: Regulations making powers in relation to fixed penalty notices for offence of abandoning vehicles.
  • section 4A: Power to issue guidance relating to the use of the local authorities' powers under section 3 or 4.
  • sections 3-6: Power by regulations to provide procedure for the removal, disposal and recovery of abandoned vehicles and other refuse.
  • section 7: power to confirm compulsory purchase of land by local authority for the Act's purposes.
  • section 8: Power of entry onto land.
