To make provision for the Audit Commission for Local Authorities and National Health Services.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

The following Ministerial functions under this Act are exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales namely:
  • section 2: Direction as to duties for making accounts.
  • section 7: Power to prescribe particular scales of fees for audit.
  • section 10: Power to receive Commission's reports.
  • section 19: Referral by Commission to Secretary of State of unlawful items of expenditure.
  • section 25: Power to direct an extraordinary audit.
  • section 26: Regulations as to the keeping of accounts by bodies other than health services bodies.
  • section 29: Agreement for Commission to undertake audit of bodies not subject to statutory audit.
  • section 41B: Power by order to make provision for fees to be charged for inspections of registered social landlords.
  • Schedule 1, paragraph 8A: Power to pay grants to the Commissionin respect to expenditure incurred in connection with section 41A.
