To amend the law about the national health service; to provide for arrangements and payments between health service bodies and local authorities for health and health related functions; to confer powers to regulate professions concerned with the physical or mental health of individual.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

The following Ministerial functions under this Act are exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales namely :

DELETED BY 2006 ACT (a)Part I and Schedule 4, except sections 20(1), 22 and 33 to 38 and Schedule 2 (other than paragraph 2);

(b) section 63, so far as it relates to any of the provisions which, by virtue of section 66(2), may be brought into force by the Welsh Ministers

  • section 63: Power by order to make incidental and supplementary provisions to give effect to the Act so far as the order relates to any of the provisions which may be brought into force by the Welsh Ministers under section 66(2) of the Act.
  • sections 66 and 67: Power to commence certain sections, subsections, Schedule 1 and paragraphs of Schedule 4.
