Hospital Complaints Procedure Act 1985 (C. 42)

To oblige health authorities to establish a complaints procedure for hospital patients.  

Functions exercisable solely by WAG or the National Assembly for Wales.

The only ministerial functions exercisable solely by the Welsh Ministers in relation to Wales under this Act are : sections 1 and 1A.
  • section 1 and 1A: duty of the Secretary of State to give each health authority directions under section 17 of the National Health Service Act 1977 as appear to him necessary for the purpose of securing that, as respects each hospital for management of which that authority or board is responsible: (a)such arrangements made for dealing with complaints made by or on behalf of persons who are or have been patients at that hospital; and (b)such steps are taken for publicising arrangements so made.
