This Order appoints 30th June 1999 as the day on which the Code of Practice on LEA - School Relations issued under section 127 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 ("the 1998 Act") takes effect. This Code provides practical guidance with a view to securing effective relationships between local education authorities in Wales and the schools maintained by them- (a) in relation to promoting high standards of education in such schools; and (b) in relation to the discharge of "relevant" functions of such authorities in relation to such schools (as listed in section 127(6) of the 1998 Act).
