Road Safety Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1)(England and Wales) Order 2007 No. 466

Summary:

This Order extends to England and Wales only and brings into force on 16 March 2007 the following provisions of the Road Safety Act 2006-
(a) section 44 which amends Part 2 of the Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001 (c.3) to allow for enforcement action against number plate suppliers; and
(b) section 52 which amends Part 2 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 (c.57) to allow licensing authorities in England and Wales outside London to suspend or revoke a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle driver's licence with immediate effect where it is in the interests of public safety to do so.
