Railways Act 2005 (Commencement No. 9) Order 2007 No. 1993

Summary:

This Order brings into force provisions of the Railways Act 2005 on 8th August 2007.
Article 2 brings into force section 17 of the Act.
Sub-sections 17(1) - (7) of the Act amend paragraph 2 of Schedule 10 to the Greater London Authority Act 1999[2], which relates to the appointment of members of Transport for London by the Mayor of London.
Sub-section 17(8) of the Act requires the Mayor of London to review the existing membership of Transport for London within 6 months of section 17(4) of the Act coming into force and, having consulted in accordance with section 17(9) of the Act, decide whether to exercise his power of appointment for the purposes contained in new sub-paragraph 2(2A) of Schedule 10 to the Greater London Authority Act 1999.
